Things We Never Got Over on Prime Video: Cast, Characters & Lucy Score's Books in Order
Prime Video has added six actors to its series adaptation of Lucy Score's Things We Never Got Over, confirmed by Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and Amazon MGM Studios on October 5, 2026. No premiere date has been announced. We haven't seen a frame of footage, so this isn't a review, and we won't guess at whether the show will be good.
What a casting announcement does give you is a list of character names — and that's where readers get tripped up, because several of those names don't belong to the first book. This guide sorts the cast by book, lays out the Knockemout series in publication order, and tells you where to start, so you can read first without spoiling yourself.

What was announced
The six new names, per Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, are Sean Teale, Sarah Jeffery, Megan Stott, Lili Simmons, Anthony Keyvan and JoBeth Williams. They join three leads announced in September: Molly Griggs, Matthew Noszka and Tommy Martinez.
The leads
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Molly Griggs | Naomi Witt, and her twin sister Tina |
| Matthew Noszka | Knox Morgan |
| Tommy Martinez | Nash Morgan, Knox's brother |
Yes, one actor is cast in both twin roles. In the novel, the sisters' situation is what kicks off the story, so the casting is worth noticing.
The six new names
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Sean Teale | Lucian |
| Sarah Jeffery | Sloane |
| Megan Stott | Waylay |
| Lili Simmons | Lina |
| Anthony Keyvan | Stef |
| JoBeth Williams | Liza J |
We don't have a sourced description of Waylay, Stef or Liza J beyond the name, so we won't invent one. If a detail isn't sourced, it stays out of this guide.
Who's making it
Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder wrote the pilot and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Gina Girolamo is also executive producing, through her company Strega Stories. Lucy Score herself is credited as a co-executive producer. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, which has confirmed it is now in production — though that is the only production detail confirmed so far: no start date, no episode count, and no word on which books the first season covers.
The trap: a cast list can spoil later books
Here's the part most casting recaps skip. In a romance series, a character name can be a spoiler. If you see someone listed and you've never met them, you may have just learned who ends up with whom in a book you haven't opened.
Two of the new names come from the books that follow book one:
- Lina Solavita is the love interest for Nash Morgan in book two, Things We Hide from the Light. In the book she's a newcomer to town with a mysterious past. Tommy Martinez is cast as Nash; Lili Simmons is cast as Lina.
- Lucian Rollins and Sloane are the leads of book three, Things We Left Behind. Lucian is a mogul who spends his time building an empire, and Sloane is a small-town librarian. They start out as childhood friends. Sean Teale is cast as Lucian and Sarah Jeffery as Sloane.
Nothing in the official announcement says the show adapts books two and three in a specific season, or when those characters would appear on screen — only that the actors are cast in roles with those names. How the show actually uses them is still unknown.
A simple spoiler rule: when a name in a cast list is new to you, assume it's from a later book, and look it up in a reading order before you read the recap.
Lucy Score's Knockemout books in order
The Knockemout series is three books set in Knockemout, Virginia. Two independent listings (bookseriesinorder.com and neverenoughnovels.com) agree on the order and the years:
- Things We Never Got Over (2022)
- Things We Hide from the Light (2023)
- Things We Left Behind (2023)
Each book follows a different couple, so they read as romances you can pick up one at a time, in a shared setting. Publication order is still the safest way through — it's the order the author released them, and it keeps the cast-list spoilers behind you rather than ahead of you.

Book one: Things We Never Got Over (2022)
Naomi Witt is a runaway bride who lands in Knockemout to help her twin. Her twin takes off and leaves her with a niece. Knox Morgan, a local who doesn't tolerate drama, is the one standing nearby. Readers tag it as a grumpy-hero, small-town, forced-proximity romance, and some reviews call it grumpy and sunshine. It's the book the series is named for, and the natural place to start before the show.
Book two: Things We Hide from the Light (2023)
Nash Morgan is Knox's brother, the town's sheriff and a lawman recovering from a traumatic shooting. Lina Solavita has just settled in town with a mysterious past, and she isn't here for his closed-off energy. If you're avoiding spoilers for the show's later characters, hold this one until you've read book one.
Book three: Things We Left Behind (2023)
Lucian Rollins spends every waking minute building his empire, except when it comes to one small-town librarian. The story is childhood friends to enemies to lovers, with flashbacks to their teenage years.
Where to start
If you want to read before the show: start with book one. It shares a title with the series, and it's the natural entry point. If you love the town, continue to books two and three.
If you hate spoilers: skip casting recaps until you've read the book those names belong to. A recap that names Lina or Lucian is a book-two or book-three spoiler.
If you listen more than you read: the Knockemout novels have audiobook editions; the jackets in our video are the audiobook editions.
There's no premiere date, so there's no deadline. That's the best part of reading first: you can finish at your own pace, and the show arrives whenever it arrives.
What to read after Knockemout
Lucy Score has several other series and standalone novels. We're deliberately not giving a total, because the listings we checked disagree on how many books are in some of her series. Two worth knowing, both with small-town settings:
- Bootleg Springs, co-written with Claire Kingsley (around 2018 and 2019). Book one, Whiskey Chaser, is set in a tiny West Virginia town, with a disgraced politician and a hell-raising local.
- Story Lake, which begins with Story of My Life (2025). A novelist buys a house in small-town Pennsylvania sight unseen, and a grumpy contractor is waiting. Reviewers compare it to Gilmore Girls — that's their comparison, not ours.
One note: not everything she writes is a small-town romance. The Riley Thorn books are described as supernatural mysteries. If what you loved was the grumpy-and-sunshine setup, stay with Knockemout, Bootleg Springs and Story Lake — both are series too, so start at book one of whichever you pick and read in publication order.
What we don't know
- The premiere date. None has been announced. One outlet floated a window; that was an estimate, not an announcement. Treat any year you see attached to the show as a guess.
- Episode count and season scope. We haven't seen either, or which books the first season covers.
- Whether the show is good. We haven't seen it, and neither has anyone who's told us. No fan reaction, no quality claims.
- Anything about Waylay, Stef or Liza J beyond the names.

A quick checklist for any casting story
- Look for the studio's own post.
- Treat a role list as reported until two sources agree.
- Ask which book each name comes from.
- Ignore any date no one official has given.
The reading order, in one breath
Things We Never Got Over. Things We Hide from the Light. Things We Left Behind. Three books, one Virginia town, and a series with no date yet.
